Snowed In

Well, it's February. Wanna know how we know? DFW got hit with a hard freeze! Yep, happens every year, except it is usually the second week and this year it decided to show up a week early!

Monday night we woke up around 3am to the sleet pelting our windows and then were awakened again at 4am by very, very loud thunder and then two little girls pouncing into our bed as they were scared to death! I have never heard a thunder/sleet storm before...interesting. At 5am we were up to see if school would be cancelled, and yes it was. Yippeeeee!! It was lovely to get to stay home all cozied up.

Tuesday was a good day...we just hung out in our pj's all day, well, except my children who thought it would be a superb idea to hang around in cami's and shorts like we were at the beach....crazy girls! Tuesday night we learned that since the temps had barely made it above 20 and the ice was still covering, well, everything, school would again be cancelled. Yay...sort of. Another day? Stuck in the house? This could get dangerous...

This brings us to today. Scott had about had it...he was going stir crazy and it was either sleep or get out of the house. Seeing as our driveway is our own personal ice rink right now, sleep was the only option...and so he did, for THREE HOURS!!!! It was kinda nice...the girls and I played games and hung out in the playroom and it was like he was at work...normal. I don't mean that last statement in a bad way...it's just we are use to being apart 8 hours a day during the week and when you are couped up in a house all day, let's just say things start grating on your nerves...no one's fault.

Well, here we are at almost 8:00pm and it is still below freezing outside, our driveway is still covered in ice AND school just got cancelled for the third day in a row....NO BUENO my friends, NO BUENO! Let's just say this mama needs some "me time" pronto! We live in Texas people!!!
