Does this term mean anything to you? Maybe if you are a "city folk", but to me? Some one who grew up in a teeny, tiny town, the term "field day" means nothing. Notta. Zilch.
Until today.
Every year at Colon Powell Elementary there is a day deemed Field Day. This is a day of fun filled events that each class participates in. Kind of like a mini Olympics, if you will.
This years theme was a jungle theme, so each grade level was a different part of that theme. The 5th grade were the Safari Guides, 1st grade were the giggly giraffe's, and Kinder were the Croc's! Everyone had shirts that had what they were on the front and the teachers name on the back! (GENIUS...as we had many kiddos "wonder off")
The BIG thing about today was showing your spirit. There is a spirit stick given away at the end of the day to each grade level class who shows the most spirit! Mrs. H REALLY wanted that spirit stick and our kiddos? They wanted to get it for her!
So we started the day off, geared up with our noisemakers, drums, whistles and horns and set out to show that we were spirited and if not that, well, we were dang loud!
The kiddos competed in different events throughout the day such as tug a war (we one first place!!!), sack race, relay race, baseball throw, basketball toss, among others.
Halfway through we got a break where the kids could get a snack, buy toys and have their hair spray painted! You know, fun stuff!
They did SOOOOO good! Not one complaint about how stinkin' hot it was and every time we said "Who's got spirit?" They screamed their little hearts out!
Over all it was a really great day! We didn't win that coveted spirit stick, but we were for sure the most spirited...someone may say it is rigged...oops...did my fingers just type that? Oh well...it is what it is.
Our KINDER CROCS ROCKED!!!!
